Descending Into Greatness Week 2

Sep 14, 2025    Billy Stephens

In this message, we're challenged to rethink our understanding of greatness through the lens of 1 Peter. The apostle Peter flips our worldly notion of greatness on its head, revealing that true greatness is found in surrender, submission, and even suffering. As we explore this counter-cultural perspective, we're reminded of Jesus' teachings in Matthew 5, where He calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. This radical love isn't just a lofty ideal - it's the path to becoming children of our Heavenly Father. The message urges us to move beyond simply attending church services and instead live out the gospel daily, making our workplaces and schools into mission fields. As we reflect on this, let's ask ourselves: Are we pursuing worldly success or Christ-like greatness? How can we surrender our lives more fully to God's purposes, even in the face of trials?
