Heaven Meets Earth Week 19
This exploration of Luke 16 confronts us with one of life's most uncomfortable questions: what does our bank account reveal about our faith? Through the puzzling parable of the dishonest manager, we're challenged to examine whether we're investing in earthly comfort or eternal significance. The passage doesn't celebrate dishonesty, but rather highlights how passionately unbelievers pursue their earthly futures while we sometimes halfheartedly pursue our eternal ones. We're reminded that one day the books will be opened before the great white throne, and we'll give an account for how we stewarded everything God entrusted to us. The stark reality is that we cannot serve two masters—we either love God and use money for His purposes, or we love money and push God aside. This isn't about legalism or guilt, but about recognizing that everything we have belongs to God anyway. When we truly grasp that our possessions, health, families, and resources are all gifts from Him, it transforms how we hold them. The question isn't whether we can afford to be generous, but whether we can afford not to be—because what we invest in eternity is the only investment that will never fail us.
